I had finally gotten to this book a few days after the release. I thought I'd lay down for a nap after working all morning. I was sleepy, had a cat cuddling with me, warm and purring. The perfect recipe for an afternoon nap. I was even drowsing a little when I turned on my Kindle. Two hours and twelve chapters later, I couldn't put it down. I was thanking god I'd put a pot roast in the crock pot that morning or we'd have eaten take out for dinner.I could not put this book down. Saran had intrigued me from the first book in this series, and from the teases, had thought that he wanted his brother's wife. It was surprising to discover it wasn't who his brother had, but what. God! This book is so good. Don't start it until you have time to have a good read or you'll go crazy thinking about what's going to happen next.

Unexpected Bride Warlord Series Book 6 edition by Michelle Howard Romance eBooks Reviews
I love that we got to know Saran more. Melane made a great character. She was a pushover. I like to struggle Saran had to go through. Glad Bran was taken care of.
I had to read this book 2 times to write this. The writing is superb as always and although I expected to love getting to know Saran, I did not really like him. That isn’t the author’s fault tho just how I built him up in my head. It could be just me but found him to be…weak when compared to how I imagined the original warlords to be. It would be one thing if he was so enamored with Melane that he did not want to be with anyone else but no, he was afraid to kiss a Raasa! And all the dithering back and forth with Melane and not even allowing her to call him by his first name. SMH. As for Melane, I am with Mikayla, you couldn’t pay me to be a Kabaian woman unless he was willing to learn and change but in her way she was strong since she was the only one who stood up for him when he couldn’t stand for himself. And I seriously like that she didn’t immediately fall back in line when he wanted to get back with her (again) and made him publicly court her. It took me two readings to understand her quiet strength to do the meek and mild thing. Not really my personal strength but it does take all kinds to make world and she seems to be the type of woman he needed. I really loved the peeks at the twins and the dynamic between Vaan and Mikayla. He loves her and doesn’t care who knows it. Even seeing the warlards including King Argan, was so sweet. Overall, I do recommend this book.
Warlords are expected to be tough, hard and unemotional. So when our warlord gets a bride that was unexpected and not necessarily wanted, he sees no reason to change. However the presence of a female in his life challenges everything he has previously believed. The storyline follows his character as he learns how to live with the female in his life. It is, at times, funny and painful for both the Warlord and his unexpected bride.
I bought and could not finish reading this book. This is unusual for I will usually finish a book. The warlord wants a strong women that will make him a better person.
The warlord and the women break-up because she would not let the warlord know that she cared for him. The women is stuck in a subservient roll by society and to insecure to fight for what she wants. I stopped reading at that point.
I have been waiting for this book and wasn't disappointed. Saran and Melane are both products their culture and I wasn't sure how Howard would overcome that but she did in a totally believable way that stayed true to the characters while allowing them to grow and change.
Seriously a good read.
I had trouble settling into this book.
The hero was hard headed and the heroine took too much of his dumb behaviors.
I like that the book is about a range of strength and the heroine is powerful is a soft, caring way.
I just wish the hero had treasured her sooner.
The culture of the world in regards to women didn't thrill me and the series plot was less engaging than I would like but not a terrible read by any means.
It was different from the other book in the series but I like the change. It show that strength comes in many different views. She maybe couldn't not fight but she prove she was strong in spirit and sometimes that is a true spirit of a warrior.
