Even tough it the story itself was short, I really loved the whole story. What really turned me off completely is the fact that there is false advertising and misrepresentation of the releasing/copyright/publishing of the dates, as these series were published in 1995. It isn't right to deceive potential and loyal readers/fans that way, it makes it seem that the author or whoever to be greedy and wanting to reaping in that money in double. someone needs to fix this immediately.

The Return Of Rafe Mackade Silhouette Intimate Moments The Mackade Brothers Nora Roberts 9780373076314 Books Reviews

I have yet to read one of Ms Roberts books that did not satisfy me. One big reason is the dialogue - sharp, quick, meaningful, funny, droll. I could go on. I never have to slog through endless stream of consciousness drivel. The action absolutely fits the plot and setting. Descriptors for characters, settings, and plot are concise and informative and dead on. Yep, always a really good read. So this contemporary romance delighted me with Rafe MacKade meeting his match whether he wanted it or not.
I read this when it first came out and saved the series for years, until I had it on my . 22 years later and I still love the story!
Even though you know the two are going to end up together, Nora Roberts knows how to write a great love story. You know they will end up together, it is interesting amazing, everything that happens before things are final.
This book is kinda laughable - the main character, Rafe, is a huge chauvinist with a "cave man" mentality. The first time he meets the woman who will become the object of his desire, he reaches and undoes the button on her blazer. Ha Ha. Can you imagine this really happening?? The story is shallow and trite - just like its characters.
I can't believe I've not read this series, because I've read all the books written by Nora Roberts and her other alias J.D. Robb. Rafe is as hot as all Nora's heroes are and pig headed. Regan though is the only woman who can handle him. They thought they were just scratching each other's itch, but like all best laid plans, they fell in love. It was fun to listen to and read. Unstoppable. Love it.
Every now and then a book comes along and surprises me, this one was did just that. Believe I will be reading more of Nora Roberts.
Nice to read a gentle story without the really violent and hard edges I am usually select to read.
Several years ago, as an interlude from my normal diet of heavy thrillers, I read Nora Roberts' Chesapeake Bay series about the romantic evolution of a close family of brothers. It was an interesting interlude so when I saw this book was heavily discounted and I needed another interlude I thought I would try again.

I was stunned at the similarity of the background, characters and romantic plot. A small country town, four brothers with excess testosterone, and a strong beautiful female who eventually tames one of the brothers. Nora Roberts is one of the most successful authors of this genre who has developed a formula that seems to work time and time again.

This time the brother is Rafe, the wildest of the bunch in his teens, who has returned home after 10 years having made good in real estate development. Rafe plans to restore an historic large antebellum house to its former glory and run it as a bed and breakfast. On his first day back he meets beautiful, strong minded and independent newcomer Regan Jones who is running an antique shop. Rafe commissions her to furnish his project to fit its history and, of course, plans to get personally more closely associated with the beautiful newcomer.

What follows is Roberts's normal plot of immediate physical attraction between the main characters but only a slow realisation that the attraction is more than physical. Roberts spices things up a bit by introducing the other brothers who have also settled a bit to running the farm, and being the town lawyer and sheriff who will feature in the next three books. She further spices it up by giving the historic house a ghost from the time of the Civil War.

Did I enjoy revisiting the Nora Roberts' formula? Yes and No - 3.5 stars. As usual it had the sparkle of an author at the top of her game but I felt a bit short-changed by the repeat of a plot formula that I remember well. Will I read the other books in this series? Probably not because reading this book did give me the interlude I needed and I will look for something a bit different when I need another interlude.

Now, somewhat refreshed, I am off on the thriller trail again where the plots are not so predictable
